Grippy next-level performance.
The IRC VE-33S Gekkota was developed and tested in extreme enduro conditions, making it an excellent choice for single-track riders and professional Hard Enduro and Endurocross racers.
2-Ply + Breaker Carcass
The 2-ply plus breaker carcass structure resists punctures and delivers dependable stability across a range of speeds.
Super-Soft Gekkota Compound
The incredibly soft and grippy Gekkota rubber compound finds traction where ordinary tyres slip. Developed with top professional enduro riders, it balances high-speed cornering performance with durability.
Terrain Compliance and Traction
The gummy compound acts as a suspension component within the tyre. A supportive sidewall provides additional bump absorption, while tall tread blocks create a larger contact patch and flex for maximum traction in demanding conditions.
APW’s recommendation for four-stroke enduro bikes
Four-stroke and two-stroke bikes deliver power differently, which can affect how gummy tyres wear. Riding style, terrain and tyre setup also play a part.
Based on our testing with friends who ride four-stroke enduro bikes, the IRC VE-33S Gekkota, Shinko 505 Cheater and Shinko 525 Cheater are our preferred options for 4T riders. These offer a hybrid approach to sticky grip and durability. We’ve had good results with them on four-strokes, including better wear than the softer gummy options we’ve tried.
Read our hard enduro gummy tyre buying guide for more help choosing a tyre for your riding conditions.
Getting the most from a gummy tyre
Gummy tyres tend to find their best grip with controlled wheelspin, giving the carcass and soft knobs a chance to conform around rocks and roots. Sustained wheelspin on abrasive terrain can trade some of that soft tread for drive.
Every rider has their own approach, and sometimes a burst of wheelspin is exactly what the situation calls for. It’s a balance between finding traction, keeping momentum and tyre wear.
